Sandhi (Joining of Words)
Sandhi is the euphonic combination of two words or sounds.
Types of Sandhi in Malayalam

| Agama Sandhi | A new letter is added between words | mara + il = marattil (t added) |

| Dvitva Sandhi | A consonant is doubled | kal + padam = kalpadam |
PSC Approach: Questions typically give a combined word and ask “which type of sandhi?” Look for: letter missing = Lopa, letter added = Agama, letter changed = Adesa, letter doubled = Dvitva.
Samasa (Compound Words)
Samasa combines two or more words into a single compound.
