Assistant Professor (Collegiate Education)
Kerala PSC's college-teaching cadre — every rival already holds a PG with NET/SET, so ranks are decided by the subject paper and the general sections nobody revises.
Master's degree in the concerned subject with at least 55% marks (relaxed to 50% for SC/ST/OBC and differently-abled candidates under UGC norms), plus UGC NET or Kerala SET — a PhD awarded under the applicable UGC regulations can substitute for NET/SET. Age limit and subject-wise conditions vary by notification; confirm against the notification you are applying under.
Kerala PSC objective test — typically 100 questions / 100 marks in 75 minutes — where the subject (professional-knowledge) portion carries the bulk of the paper, alongside general sections: English, Quantitative Aptitude, Logical Reasoning and General Awareness / Current Affairs. An interview and document verification follow the written stage. Section weightings differ per subject notification.
UGC pay scales as adopted by the Government of Kerala for Assistant Professor entry, plus admissible allowances; the exact band follows the prevailing pay order.
The subject paper is the deciding half — plan 6–12 months of PG-level subject revision, with 2–3 months alongside it for English, aptitude, reasoning and current affairs.
Why pick Assistant Professor (Collegiate Education)?
A permanent college-teaching post on UGC scales, with research freedom and the clearest promotion ladder in Kerala higher education. The strategic point: since every competitor already clears the PG + NET/SET bar, the subject paper separates the shortlist and the general sections separate the rank list — and those are exactly the sections most candidates leave to chance while revising their specialism.
